Congratulation on the publication of the Chinese version of Management of Clinical Depression and Anxiety
News from Hunan Cancer Hospital/The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University.
The Chinese version of Management of Clinical Depression and Anxiety was mainly translated by Xiao-hong Liu, chairman of Chinese Psycho-social Oncology Society (CPOS) and Deputy Secretary of the Party committee of Hunan Cancer Hospital/The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University. The translation and publication of the book is a new and great achievement of the psychological and clinical spiritual care team of Hunan cancer hospital in recent years.
Anxiety and depression are the most common mental health problems of cancer patients. Early recognition and timely intervention of anxiety and depression by clinical oncologists are of great significance to improve the clinical prognosis and quality of life of cancer patients.
Management of Clinical Depression and Anxiety was officially published by Oxford University Press. It provides a brief set of clinical guidelines for handling clinical depression and anxiety in cancer patients. Using a practical toolkit format, this volume covers a variety of topics including: assessment methods, treatment methods, psychiatric emergencies and disorders, policies, service and ethical issues, confidentiality, and communication issues. Self-assessment quizzes round out each chapter, and the volume concludes with an appendix of patient screening tools.
Part of the Psycho-oncology Care: Companion Guides for Clinicians series, this highly readable, concise pocket guide is an ideal resource for oncology clinicians and mental health professionals training in psycho-oncology to use as a quick reference in everyday practice.
“Management of Clinical Depression and Anxiety” is edited by Maggie Watson (Editor-in-Chief, Psycho-oncology) and David W. Kissane. This is a great down to earth guide, for all those involved in clinical care, through the maze of depression, suicidal ideation and simple inability to cope with the bad news that cancer patients have to face... this is an excellent volume, well edited and easy to read. I look forward to more titles in this important series contributing to the practical care of cancer patients. (Professor Karol Sikora)
